Nusa penida, well known by divers coming from Bali is today a successful island in the spotlight! Nusa Penida became a highlight for Travel nomad, Instagrammer, Vlogger, the island is so full of surprises with so many breathtaking views and a population who is like in Bali very welcoming and so easy going.
Nusa Penida island deserves a minimum of time to visit it properly. Nusa Penida is quite a big island if you consider the roads conditions. Here it is not a matter of distance but time! However roads infrastructure are really improving since 2019 and it is getting easier to reach all the interesting sight of Nusa Penida. If you feel confident to ride a motorbike, the easiest way to get around Nusa Penida is to rent a scooter. It will allow you to visit by yourself all the interesting places Nusa Penida has to offer. Hiring a driver or a guide, will not brings you much regarding panorama and scenery. on the other hand, it is a real plus to explain the culture, the history of the island, the sacred places, the traditions and share with the locals.
The best way to explore Nusa Penida island is to visit by area. The island topography and the roads naturally divide the island into 2 parts. The two harbors are on the North coast, if your plan is a daily trip from Bali you will have to decide to go East or West. We would say, it's a difficult choice! The best is to take a minimum of 3 to 4 days on the island. It will you let time enough to enjoy the underwater marine live with a snorkeling trip, try dive or fun dive if you are already a certified diver, and enjoy what Nusa Penida has the best to offer. The two main Nusa Penida itinary are West Nusa Penida and East Nusa Penida.
The West Nusa Penida route is the most popular one for daily visitor from Bali. Most of them are only visiting Angel's Billabong, Broken Beach and Crystal bay for a shore snorkeling trip. It can be done in an half day. To this is often added Kelingking Beach viewpoint (without going down to the beach). Banah Cliff, Seganing and Tembeling waterfall requiring a short walk, it is better to have them to a dedicated outlet.
The East Nusa Penida route is less popular amongst tourists visiting Nusa Penida. The best way is to have at least one overnight on the island. It will give you time to do this part of the island properly. East coast is famous for the sunrise, best pictures are at around 6.15 Am for Atuh Beach and morning light is suitable for Diamond Beach and Jungle tree view point. To complete the loop from North coast, we think that going back inland is the best, option, discover Teletubbies hills or have a snapshot at Suwehan cliff is worth it.
Here is a list of the most famous Nusa Penida sights that you can "explore" on your own or trust us to organize the outings according to your availability.
